 After succesfull connecting with the local Oman diveindustry, Naui Europe Representative #40992 Jean-Marc Claes (Belgium) succesfully conducted afirst IQP with 3 Omani candidate dive instructors. Following this event, Jean-Marc Claes returned to Omana few weeks later to train and certify one of the first CD’s in Oman, mr. Yannick Borlée. Not long after these NAUI training in Oman, the first localdive centres became also NAUI Dive centres giving the dive business in that area a seriousboost in many directions. Jean-Marc Claes updated many of the local dive guides,instructors and divecentre owners, giving them solutions to upgrade their business and creating more businesspossibilities.
As a professional dive consultant,Jean-Marc Claes willkeep on following the local market and its possibilities and is eager to expand NAUI in that area. According to Jean-Marc Claes with this training it proofsthat there are still many places who are still in need of serious dive training and where the dive business is notyet fully developed. Oman has some excellent diving to offer and being onlylocated about 400km from Dubai, also it is easy accessible by airplane. Oman and and the Gulf of Oman offers a very rich andbeautiful marine habitat, situated between the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, offering the best of both area’s The area around Oman’s capital, Muscat, gives place to aUnesco protected marine reserve, the Dahmiyat Islands, offering some top diving spots. Not at all touristic yet, but very open and friendly. Besides the more than 1000 km shoreline and thusuncountable divesites, it also offers a large variety of other possibilities and an immense cultural background. Wadis or oasis colouring the desert green due to theabundance of trees, mountains hiding an enormous grand canyon, worth avisit to get the feeling of absolute geological and cultural highlights withenormous mosques and other architectural buildingsgiving the dream of 1000 and 1 night atmosphere.
